VERSIONS OF ME A METAMORA FILMS ORIGINAL SERIES

Educational Documentary Series

THE QUESTION

How much do you need to know about someone before you decide who they are?

Versions of Me is an educational documentary series exploring identity, stigma, judgment, belonging, and the assumptions we make about other people.

CURRENT PRODUCTION AREA Portland, Oregon · Vancouver, Washington · Southwest Washington
IDENTITY STIGMA JUDGMENT BELONGING HUMAN BEHAVIOR SOCIAL ISSUES

We rarely meet the whole person.

We meet someone's record. Their diagnosis. Their job. Their mistake. Their reputation. Their appearance. Their circumstances.

Then, often without realizing it, we begin filling in everything we don't know.

THE PREMISE

The person hasn't changed. What the audience knows about them has.

Versions of Me is an educational documentary series built around that moment. Each short film introduces viewers to a person, experience, or situation through truthful but incomplete information.

As additional context is revealed, viewers are invited to reconsider their first impressions and examine the assumptions that helped shape them.

The films aren't designed to tell audiences what they should think about someone. Instead, they create space to recognize how quickly we form conclusions when we only know part of a story.

LOOK AGAIN

Every person has a story that extends beyond the version we construct from limited information.

WHAT HAVEN'T YOU LEARNED YET? Context can complicate the story we thought we understood.

Designed to be used, not just watched.

Versions of Me is being developed as both an educational documentary series and a flexible screening resource for schools, organizations, nonprofits, and communities.

The short-film format makes individual stories easier to incorporate into classrooms, workshops, staff development, training programs, conferences, community programs, and facilitated screenings.

Films can be paired with discussion questions, educator materials, and suggested pause points that encourage viewers to examine what they believe they know before additional context is revealed.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Could we tell your story?

Versions of Me is looking for individuals, couples, and small families in the Portland–Vancouver metro area whose experiences might challenge the assumptions people make about them.

You may have experienced being judged, labeled, stereotyped, misunderstood, or defined by one part of your life — while the fuller story is much more complicated.

THE PERSON BEHIND THE ASSUMPTION

What people see is only part of the story.

Your story doesn't need to be extraordinary. What matters is that there may be more to your life than someone would understand from a first impression, a label, a circumstance, or a single piece of information.

If you've ever felt that people see only part of who you are, there may be a story worth exploring.

HOW WE MAY FILM

Real people.
Real moments.

Depending on the story, an episode may look different from a traditional sit-down documentary.

Filming may include interviews, everyday activities, time with the people in your life, or unscripted observational filming where our cameras document real moments and experiences as they happen.

We're not looking for performances or rehearsed answers. We're interested in genuine experiences and people who are comfortable telling their story in their own words.

BEYOND THE SCREEN

Educational resources.

The conversation surrounding each story can be just as important as the film itself.

Alongside the films, Metamora Films plans to develop discussion materials that can help educators and facilitators explore themes such as identity, stigma, judgment, belonging, labeling, attribution, social psychology, sociology, media literacy, and the assumptions we make about others.

Where appropriate, we'll collaborate with educators, researchers, and subject-matter professionals to help ensure those materials are useful and grounded in relevant academic perspectives.
