Learn Production Skills
Gain practical experience with cameras, lighting, sound, editing, interviews, and production support.
CREW · FREELANCERS · CREATIVE COLLABORATORS
Metamora Films offers Film Production Jobs, freelance crew opportunities, and creative collaborations for people interested in meaningful film, media, and social-impact projects.
We build production teams around the needs of each project. Therefore, opportunities may include camera, lighting, sound, editing, production support, facilitation, creative development, and other specialized roles.
Metamora Films believes people should be considered for their skills, experience, reliability, and ability to contribute—not automatically excluded because of their past.

OPPORTUNITY · FILMMAKING · SECOND CHANCES
One of the missions of Metamora Films is to create opportunities for people who have been through the criminal legal system to learn filmmaking, develop creative skills, and become stronger storytellers.
I understand how difficult it can be to find meaningful work after involvement with the criminal justice system.
A conviction can continue to affect opportunities long after a sentence has ended. Because of that experience, Metamora Films wants to do more than simply leave the door open.
When possible, we want to help people learn skills they can continue using beyond one production.
That may include camera work, lighting, sound, interviews, editing, production support, story development, or learning how to work thoughtfully with real people and lived experience.
Over time, production experience can become practical skills. Those skills can become credits, portfolio work, and professional relationships.
For some people, that can become a path toward filmmaking, media work, or becoming an independent artist.
Gain practical experience with cameras, lighting, sound, editing, interviews, and production support.
Develop the ability to listen, ask better questions, shape ideas, and tell human stories with care and respect.
Work on actual projects that can help build credits, relationships, confidence, and material for a future portfolio.
The goal is not only to fill a crew position. When possible, we want people to develop their own creative voice.
Metamora Films works with filmmakers, crew members, artists, educators, and collaborators from many backgrounds. Justice-system involvement is never a requirement.
Instead, this mission means that people affected by the criminal legal system are intentionally welcomed, encouraged to grow, and considered for opportunities rather than automatically excluded.
Fair-chance employment encourages employers to consider the whole applicant instead of relying on blanket exclusions based solely on criminal history.
PROJECT-BASED OPPORTUNITIES
Metamora Films builds small teams as projects develop. As a result, most opportunities are occasional freelance or project-based gigs rather than ongoing staff positions.
At this time, Metamora Films does not offer continuous employment or regular W-2 staff positions. Instead, crew and collaborators are brought onto projects when a specific need comes up.
Opportunities may appear at different times throughout the year. Therefore, there may also be periods when no paid work is available.
We also do not currently operate a continuous training or apprenticeship program. However, when someone joins a production, there may be opportunities to learn new skills and gain practical experience while working alongside others.
Introducing yourself to Metamora Films does not guarantee a job, a specific number of hours, or future work. We keep relationships with people whose interests and skills may fit upcoming projects and reach out as needs develop.
AREAS WE'RE INTERESTED IN
Our needs can extend beyond the film set. Depending on the project, Metamora Films may work with people across film production jobs, post-production, education, communications, and creative support.
Camera operators, assistants, documentary shooters, and people interested in visual storytelling and on-location production.
Interview lighting, small production setups, grip support, equipment setup, and other lighting-related production work.
Production sound, microphones, interview audio, podcast recording, dialogue cleanup, and other audio work.
Documentary editing, short-form content, interviews, educational media, trailers, and other post-production work.
Audio or video podcast editing, recording support, episode preparation, media management, and post-production.
Research, treatments, scripts, interview development, story structure, educational content, and written project materials.
Production assistants, shoot coordination, releases, equipment, scheduling, location support, and general production help.
Facilitators, guest instructors, classroom support, screening assistance, discussion leaders, and educational program support.
Social media, community outreach, festival promotion, project publicity, audience development, and communications support.
Photography, graphic design, animation, music, educational media, event support, and other skills that may fit a particular project.
Even when we are not actively staffing a project, we are interested in hearing from people who want to work in film, media, education, and storytelling. Introduce yourself, tell us what you do or what you are interested in learning, and we can keep you in mind when the right opportunity comes along.
Interested in future film production gigs, podcast work, educational projects, or creative collaborations? Introduce yourself.
Metamora Films works with freelancers and collaborators as projects develop. Therefore, opportunities are project-based and may come up at different times throughout the year.
Metamora Films intentionally welcomes people who have been affected by the criminal legal system. However, you do not need a criminal history to work with us, and you are never required to disclose one on this form.
These opportunities are not ongoing W-2 positions. Work comes up as individual films, podcasts, workshops, educational programs, marketing projects, and other Metamora Films projects develop.
Submitting your information does not guarantee work, ongoing hours, training, or placement on a project. Instead, we keep in touch with people whose interests and skills may fit future opportunities.
KEEP THE DOOR OPEN
Metamora Films is interested in people who want to create, contribute, learn, and grow through meaningful film and media work.
Whether you already have production experience or you are still building your skills, we want to know who you are and what kind of work interests you.
People are more than their past, and creative work can become part of what comes next.
