Stories That Change Hearts and Minds
Metamora Films provides documentary film production for organizations, educators, advocates, and storytellers with meaningful stories to tell. We develop projects from early concept through production, post-production, and delivery.
You do not need a finished script, a production team, or a complete technical plan. Start with the story, the people, or the issue that matters. We can help determine the format, scope, audience, and production approach that comes next.
Every project begins differently. You may already have interviews, research, footage, or a finished concept. However, you may also be starting with nothing more than a story that deserves to be told.
Metamora Films can enter the documentary film production process at either stage. Together, we can determine the right format, scope, production approach, and next steps.

Instead, tell us what you are hoping to create, who the project is for, and why the story matters. From there, we can explore the format, scope, and production approach that makes sense.
An idea, lived experience, research project, organization, book, issue, or unfinished concept can all become the starting point for a project.
Metamora Films is a professional, for-profit media and production company. Clients can start a documentarey film production project and hire Metamora Films. We can develop, produce, edit, and deliver film, podcast, educational, and social impact media projects.
In other words, this is paid production work. However, every project is different, so the scope and investment are developed around the story, production needs, timeline, and intended audience.
We can help turn an early idea into a workable project. That may include story development, research, interviews, structure, audience planning, scheduling, locations, releases, and production strategy.
Metamora builds the production around the needs of the story. Depending on the project, that may involve producing, directing, camera, sound, lighting, interviews, travel, and additional crew.
After production, we shape the material into the finished story through editing, structure, audio, graphics, music, finishing, and final deliverables.
Select projects may continue through educational licensing, campus and community screenings, discussion programs, filmmaker appearances, or other audience-facing opportunities.
Clients contract with and pay Metamora Films for agreed production services.
Because a short interview-based film is very different from a multi-day documentary production, we do not force every project into the same package or price.
Instead, the investment is based on factors such as development time, production days, crew size, locations, travel, equipment, editing, graphics, music, licensing, and final deliverables. As a result, we prepare the production approach around the actual needs of the project.
However, an approximate budget range is helpful because it allows us to discuss what can realistically be produced within that investment.
Start a film project with Metamora today. Share the idea, issue, organization, research, experience, or existing material behind the project.
Next, we determine the format, audience, production needs, timeline, deliverables, and approximate investment.
Once the scope is agreed upon, Metamora provides the production agreement and payment structure needed to move the project forward.
Finally, we assemble the appropriate production resources, create the work, and prepare the finished project for its intended audience.
That's enough to begin. You bring the story. We'll help determine what it takes to produce it.

No. You can contact Metamora Films with an early-stage idea, lived experience, issue, book, research project, organization, or story you believe deserves to be developed.
From there, we can help determine the format, scope, audience, production requirements, and next steps.

Because every production has different requirements, pricing is developed individually. Investment may depend on development time, production days, crew, travel, equipment, editing, graphics, music, licensing, and final deliverables.
You do not need to know your exact budget before reaching out. However, an approximate range helps us determine what can realistically be produced within that investment.
No. Criminal justice storytelling is a core specialty of Metamora Films, particularly stories involving incarceration, reentry, social stigma, lived experience, families, and second chances.
However, we also develop documentary films, social impact media, podcasts, educational projects, and other human-centered stories that can benefit from thoughtful nonfiction storytelling.
Projects may include documentary films, social impact films, interview-driven stories, podcast productions, educational media, short-form productions, editing, and post-production.
Some projects may also extend beyond production through educational distribution, institutional licensing, community screenings, filmmaker appearances, panels, or moderated discussions.
We can work with organizations, nonprofits, educational institutions, advocacy groups, businesses, authors, subject-matter experts, community leaders, and individuals who have a story or issue they want to communicate through film or other media.
The person whose story appears in a film does not necessarily need to be the person funding the production. In many social impact projects, an organization or institution commissions the work for the audience it hopes to reach.
Still not sure where your idea fits? That is exactly what the inquiry is for.
