ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Independent Storytelling.
Lasting Impact.
The Metamora Film Festival is a one-day celebration of independent
films and media projects that explore people, communities, ideas,
and experiences worth sharing.
The festival began with a strong focus on criminal justice and
system-impacted stories. That work remains important to us.
However, the next chapter of the festival is intentionally broader.
Instead of limiting the program to one subject, the festival can
feature documentaries, narrative films, podcasts, and other
independent work exploring social issues, identity, culture,
resilience, community, lived experience, human connection, and
other meaningful stories.
Most importantly, we want the experience to continue after the
credits roll. Therefore, selected screenings may be followed by
filmmaker conversations, audience discussions, panels, or other
opportunities to explore the ideas behind the work.
01
Curated Independent Work
A focused selection of films and media projects rather than
an oversized schedule built around quantity.
02
Stories With a Point of View
We are interested in work that gives audiences something to
experience, consider, question, or understand differently.
03
Conversation Beyond the Screen
When possible, screenings can become a starting point for
filmmaker conversations, audience discussion, and community
engagement.
